Johnny Depp Finally Talks About Split From Vanessa Paradis

Finally. Johnny Depp thought he could rise above the gossip cycle and simply never address his surprising split from Vanessa Paradis, but he proved to be quite the talker when he broke his silence on the topic to Rolling Stone.

“The last couple years have been a bit bumpy,” he told the magazine. “At times, certainly unpleasant, but that’s the nature of breakups, I guess, especially when there are kiddies involved.”

Johnny has had some high-profile breakups with former girlfriends Kate Moss and Winona Ryder, but feels his divorce from Vanessa was handled more maturely than those two.
"In terms of the breakup, I definitely wasn't going to rely on the drink to ease things or cushion the blow or cushion the situation. ‘Cause that could have been fatal. I felt it was my duty to be real clear throughout that. I had something pretty serious to focus on, really, which was making sure that my kids were gonna be cool."
Though he spoke openly about the end of his 14-year relationship to the French singer-actress, he remains stoically tight-lipped about his current relationship with actress Amber Heard. The two met while filming the 2011 film adaptation of The Rum Diary, however he doesn’t mention her in this interview.
