Why Will Smith Might Lose Custody of Jaden Smith

Jaden Smith’s birthday is July 8 and he has a wish to make while blowing out the candles on his cake this year.
To lean over that frosted “Happy 15, Jaden!”, close his eyes and ask to be freed from the non-existent shackles of his parents OMG total BFFs Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith.
Jaden is seeking emancipation from the Smith household.
Here’s the cute little bedtime story Will told The Sun recently, “[Jaden] said, ‘Dad, I want to be emancipated.’ I know if we do this, he can be an emancipated minor, because he really wants to have his own place, like ooh.”
“That’s the backlash,” Will added. “On the other side, if kids just want to have command of their lives, I understand.”
Where most kids had to entertain thoughts of Shawshank-ing their way out of their bedrooms as their only means of escape, Jaden can just be all, “Dad, I’m out,” like an anti-“Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.”
“Yo, homes smell you later!”

Will and Jada have discussed their parenting philosophies pretty openly throughout Jaden and daughter Willow Smith’s upbringing and seeing as its pretty lax it has us wondering what there is to emancipate from exactly. Like removing invisible handcuffs with invisible keys.
“We generally don’t believe in punishment,” Will said. If Jaden does something like kick his sister in the chest (Will’s example, swear to God), “I’ll say to Jaden, ‘Why was that the right thing to do for your life?’…we can see that he understands that it wasn’t so smart.”
Since Will and Jada’s household is the set of “Judge Judy” and they practically treat their teenage kids like 50-year-olds with Yale law degrees, they might as well stroll on over to a for realsies courthouse and put it in writing.
Make no mistake about it; Will and Jada are some of the chillest parents in the biz. The word "chore" is about as foreign to these kids as "economic" or "flying coach."
