Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj Quit “American Idol”

You just read most tepid headline of the day. Songbird Mariah Carey and rapbird Nicki Minaj have both announced their exits from the sinking ship of a show “American Idol,” making statements just hours from one another.
Mariah was the first to come clean about her future with “AI” (non-existent), confirming reports that she wouldn’t be returning to the judges’ panel.
In true diva fashion, she couldn’t even be bothered to write an original message regarding the news; she simply she hit the retweet button on an update from her PR reps that read, “W/ global success of ‘#Beautiful’ (#1 in 30+ countries so far) @MariahCarey confirms world tour & Says goodbye 2 Idol http://mariahcarey.com.” Okay, daaahling, we got the memo.
She’s also laying down the finishing notes and harmonies on her forthcoming album and headlining the
Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular. Also keep an eye out for her on the silver screen—Mariah makes her return to acting with a small role in the Oscar-bait Lee Daniels picture The Butler.

Not to be outdone, Nicki was quick to make her goodbye.
“Thank you American Idol for a life changing experience! Wouldn’t trade it for the world! Time to focus on the Music!!! Mmmuuuaahhh!!!” she wrote, in a more personal message than Mariah, to her fans on Twitter.
With these departures, that leaves the current “AI” panel empty, though if you squint really hard you can see lone judge Keith Urban still sitting there (he’s been sitting there this whole entire season, believe it or not), awaiting his fate.

The latest reports is that producers want to make it an all-star “AI” panel of former contestants like Jennifer Hudson and Adam Lambert.
