Angelina Jolie to Receive Honorary Oscar

Angelina Jolie is as famous for her charity work as she is for her roles on the silver screen. Now she’s being further recognized for her philanthropy with an honorary Oscar at the Governors Awards this coming November in Los Angeles.

Angelina has been involved with numerous causes and field missions, raising awareness on issues including women’s rights, sexual violence prevention, foreign relations, rural poverty, natural resources and wildlife conservation.

“The Governors Awards pay tribute to individuals who’ve made indelible contributions in their respective fields,” Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs said in a statement. “We couldn’t be more excited for this year’s honorees and look forward to bringing their peers and colleagues together to celebrate their extraordinary achievements.”
Jolie has also previously served as the Goodwill Ambassador for the UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees).
