Michael Douglas: Oral Sex Gave Me Cancer

In an interview with The Guardian, Michael Douglas got very candid about his throat cancer diagnosis, claiming he contracted it from oral sex.
When asked if he regretted his smoking and drinking addictions in his past, widely assumed to be a contributing cause of his cancer, Michael replied otherwise.
"No. Because without wanting to get too specific, this particular cancer is caused by HPV [human papillomavirus],” Michael answered, “which actually comes about from cunnilingus."
He also said that the stress he had to deal with following his son’s incarceration may have also helped trigger it, but for the most part it was from HPV.
Doctors have cited recent studies suggesting that HPV is believed to be a causative agent, but they are skeptical that it’s the sole cause, given Michael’s drug history.
In August 2010, Michael, who’s now 68 years old, was diagnosed with stage four cancer in his throat, which is often terminal. But with an intensive eight-week chemotherapy and radiation therapy regimen, he had an 80 percent chance of survival, and 95 percent of the time with no relapse.
The treatment worked and Michael has been cancer free for two years
