The “Stay” singer was the victim of a swatting prank. This is quickly becoming the trendiest and most irritating way to f*ck with celebrities. An emergency call was made, saying someone inside her Pacific Palisades house had been shot and police responded to the scene.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the call happened just after 3 p.m. on Thursday. LAPD responded and immediately secured the area.
Shortly after they realized that it was a hoax.
Rihanna was not home during the incident. She’s currently on her Diamonds World Tour. She performs in San Jose on Saturday and then Los Angeles on Monday.
No one was injured in the incident, but the scheme does mirror another hoax at Sean “Diddy” Combs’ Toluca Lake home on Wednesday.
Similar swatting pranks have previously played out at the homes of Justin Bieber, Tom Cruise, Ashton Kutcher, Simon Cowell, Miley Cyrus and even Rihanna’s boyfriend, Chris Brown.
No arrests were made yet in the Rihanna incident, but, as you can imagine, law enforcement is pretty pissed and intend to prosecute to the full extent of the law.
So, if you’re the hooligan out there responsible for all this, best quit while you’re ahead.
