Tiffed Rottweiler with a turntable, Kanye West
put on a super secret impromptu listening party during Switzerland’s
annual Art Basel fair, where attendees got not just an earful of his new
album Yeezus, but his newfound philosophies on celebrity.
One of which was to explain why he always looks like he’s going to break through your computer screen and capsize your office desk in 99% of the photos he's in.
“I only frown because paparazzi ask me dumba$$ sh*t all the time,” he explained, “and I think about changing the world, and I think about what I can do to make things better.”
Later
he previewed samples of his newest songs, even taking the stage to
perform his latest track “New Slaves.” Let’s just glaze over the ironic
fact that this song in particular has the rapper unleashing lyrics like
“I’d rather be in the factory than the Maybach” and “F*** the Hamptons
House” at the multi-millionaires-attended Art Basel, where the
wealthiest folk in the world gather once a year to preview $2 billion
worth of artwork that will eventually be hung in the foyers of their
houses in the Hamptons.
You can watch an acapella performance of it here. There’s no paparazzi in sight and true to his remarks, he flashes a few smiles here and there:
