The ravishing babe celebrates her 38th birthday today.
Born on June 9, 1975, in a Gujarati family, Ameesha Patel
never thought that she would become an actor considering she was
interested in studies and is an Economics gold medalist from Tufts
University, USA. But as luck would have it, after finishing her education, Patel came back to Mumbai and joined noted theatre director Satyadev Dubey’s group.
The sexy siren acted in a few plays and modeled for leading brands before making a big splash in Bollywood with Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai opposite Hrithik Roshan. The Rakesh Roshan love story made Ameesha a household name and a star to watch out for. Her next release, Anil Sharma’s Gadar: Ek Prem Katha opposite Sunny Deol too cashed in a lot of moolah at the box office. And soon Ms Patel was in demand.
But then she couldn’t reach the heights of success that she was
expected to. After spending more than a decade in Bollywood, the lass
made a final attempt to woo her fans with a dreamy song Lazy lamhe in the Saif Ali Khan starrer, Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic,
but her magic didn’t work and the film ultimately bombed. This made
Ameesha self-retrospect and eventually she decided to venture into
production. Along with friend Kunal Goomer, she’s announced her maiden
production Desi Magic that
will be directed by Mehul Atha and will feature Patel in a double role
along with Zayed Khan, Randhir Kapoor, Sahil Shroff and Ravi Kishan. Her
forthcoming flick Shortcut Romeo opposite Neil Nitin Mukesh is expected
to release on June 21.
