Catherine Zeta-Jones Checks Into Rehab

Academy Award winner Catherine Zeta-Jones checked into a treatment center.
She’s returning to a similar center she’s visited once before for her Bipolar II, a mental health condition characterized by mood swings and depression.
It’s typically treated with prescription medication and psychotherapy.
In a statement to the AP late yesterday, Catherine’s publicist Sarah Fuller said that the 43-year-old actress is “committed to periodic care in order to manage her health in an optimum manner.”
No specific reason or episode was said to be the reason.

TMZ’s source close to the actress, who notified them of her latest bout with rehab, said “it’s maintenance.”
In 2011, Catherine announced she was bipolar and took the same proactive measures, checking into a Connecticut mental-health facility. Her husband, actor Michael Douglas, underwent treatment that same year for advanced throat cancer; aides said at the time that the stress of those circumstances could have exacerbated her own condition.
Catherine's last public appearance was on April 22, when she walked the red carpet of the 40th Anniversary Chaplin Award Gala at the Lincoln Center in New York City with Michael.
