Paul Walker's Mother Files to Be Guardian of Late Actor's Daughter

 

Paul Walker's mother, Cheryl Ann Walker, has filed a petition to be named legal guardian of the "Fast and Furious" star's 15-year-old daughter, Meadow Walker, a Los Angeles Superior Court official told ABC News.

The late actor specified in his will that he wanted his mother to be guardian, according to the petition documents obtained by ABC News.
Walker's will also left his estimated $16 million estate to Meadow.
The petition filed in Los Angeles asked that the girl's grandmother be allowed to "act as the guardian of the person and estate of the minor," rather than Meadow's biological mother, Rebecca Jo Soteros.
Cheryl Ann Walker's petition said it was unknown whether or not Soteros agreed that custody should be granted to Walker.
ABC News' attempts to reach Soteros for comment have been unsuccessful.

Cheryl Ann Walker's court papers alleged that Soteros "has a drinking problem," while painting Walker as "a loving and responsible person. She works as a registered nurse. She has raised her own four children."
Meadow has been living with her grandmother since August 2012, following a year living with her father. Paul Walker and Soteros never were married and shared custody of Meadow as she got older.

A temporary guardianship hearing is scheduled for March 27 and a permanent guardianship hearing is scheduled for April 30.
Walker died on Nov. 30 in a car crash during a charity event for the actor's organization, Reach Out Worldwide. He was 40 years old.
