Dakota Johnson and E.L. James Bond, Discuss Ana Steele Character

Dakota Johnson is going straight to the source, spending time with Fifty Shades of Grey author E.L. James on Sunday afternoon in New York City.

The 23-year-old actress will be playing Anastasia Steele in the film adaptation of James' erotic bestseller, and the two appeared to really hit it off.
"The beautiful, talented, funny as feck, Dakota Johnson. Oh and that bloke @danabrunetti," E.L. Tweeted, referring to the film's producer Dana Brunetti.

Dakota was cast in the Fifty Shades of Grey movie along with hunk Charlie Hunnam, who will play tortured, S&M-loving billionaire Christian Grey.

James is thrilled with the casting. Fans? Not as much.

Reactions ranged from apathetic, curious, and even rage-filled, with some Fifty Shades readers even starting a petition for a new Christian and Ana.

That won't happen, but says a lot about how hard it is to cast the "perfect" person in the eyes of fans who picture a book's characters a certain way.

For his part, Hunnam talked about the chemistry with Dakota Johnson when he was considering the role, and how that inspired him to take on the role.

"As soon as we got in the room, I knew I definitely wanted to do it," he said. "There's a tangible chemistry between us. It felt exciting and fun and weird and compelling."

For Dakota, 23, it'll be a big change for the relatively unknown actress. Not only with the racy material, but for being cast in a major, major production.
