Amanda Bynes Mentally Unfit, Says Lawyer

Amanda Bynes, who was supposed to appear in court today over her DUI arrest in West Hollywood in April 2012, is mentally incapable to stand trial, according to her lawyer.
Rich Hutton, who is representing Amanda in the case, told the judge that she doesn’t have the mental capacity to comprehend the nature of the legal proceedings, TMZ learned.

This left the judge concerned—enough to hand the matter over to the appropriate officials, which in this instance is a mental health court. That court will then conduct a hearing and determine Amanda’s mental competency.
Amanda is still receiving treatment under an extended conservatorship and psychological watch.
However, Amanda isn't off the hook forever. Lawyer Francis J. Falkenstein at the TRI-State Treatment Connection, who has never been retained by Amanda personally, "there is a chance the treatment could be effective and she may be deemed competent in the future and then have to stand trial."
